    VM Choke fuel pick up?

    Can these be replaced?

    Not shown in a parts diagram,

    Just picked up a big box of 850 parts, with incomplete set of VM, no float bowls, stored upright, so 3 of the 4 little copper tubes are snapped off, making the bodies useless
    1978 GS 1000 (since new)
    1979 GS 1000 (The Fridge, superbike replica project)
    1978 GS 1000 (parts)
    1981 GS 850 (anyone want a project?)
    1981 GPZ 550 (backroad screamer)
    1970 450 Mk IIID (THUMP!)
    2007 DRz 400S
    1999 ATK 490ES
    1994 DR 350SES

    If you can get the broken off ends out, a replacement will press in just fine. I have several ruined VM bodies, may have the tubes you need.

      I've replaced them thanks to Tom.
      1983 GS 1100E w/ 1230 kit, .340 lift Web Cams, Ape heavy duty valve springs, 83 1100 head with 1.5mm oversized SS intake valves, 1150 crank, Vance and Hines 1150 SuperHub, Star Racing high volume oil pump gears, 36mm carebs Dynojet stage 3 jet kit, Posplayr's SSPB, Progressive rear shocks and fork springs, Dyna 2000, Dynatek green coils and Vance & Hines 4-1 exhaust.
      1985 GS1150ES stock with 85 Red E bodywork.

        Okay Tom, wadda ya got?

        I'll look in my carb box, I may have a broken body that has a good tube

        Then, I'd need two more

          The wall is super thin so take something like a heavy safety pin and get the edge rolled over so you can grip it with some small needle nose pliers and remove the broken remains. When I insert a new one I ever so slightly get it out of round so it wedges itself up into the body and stays secured.

          Some say the little end plug with the tiny hole will make it unusable if its missing..it doesnt. it just makes that particular carbs choke a lot richer than the others. It will still suck up fuel and work the starter circuit.

          Ideally you want it there but dont freak out if its not is all I am saying.

          I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

            What Chuck said, it that cylinder is too rich while choked you can smash the end down to make a smaller inlet. Remember it's only in use while the choke is on so it's not real critical.

              Or one could solder the end shut and get a super tiny drill bit if they were really concerned about it..but like I said, its not an issue.
