    Main jet seal

    Still learning ...

Whilst carbs off and being cleaned, took the float chambers off and unscrewed main jets to check and clean.

What looked like the very sticky remains of a tiny O-ring (13332-44080) was present under each jet at start of thread.

Looked on parts website and it suggests O-ring has been superceded by a plain washer ?
    "SUPERSEDED BY 13382-03110 WASHER"

Can anyone tell me if it is a thin copper washer or a fibre washer (because I already have a box full of those!)

    Thanks.

What model and year bike are we referring to? I've never seen an O-ring used under a main jet.

The PO must have used O-rings instead of the factory copper washer. Steel washers work just as well BTW and cost less.

        The bike's a 1983 UK spec GS850GZ.
Could indeed be a previous owner's fit. But they are definitely semi dissolved black O-rings just like the gooey one I found on the diaphragm sealing spigot within the fuel tap on the same bike.

Nessism. Just to clarify ... the factory drawings :-

show a 'washer' [number 41 under the main jet 42] of some type (that's where I got the 1332-44080 Suzuki part number from) but good to know a copper washer will do the job.

I'll sort some out and anneal them for good measure.

If there is a "Z" on the VIN plate, it's actually an '82 model.

It might have been first sold in '83 and titled that way, but it's actually an '82.
