    exhaust springs?

    Question for the exhaust guys. On my 1100 es i have this beautiful yosh pipe which i love. Sounds awesome, looks awesome, period correct, etc. Downside: oil change requires header removal.

    Now, in an effort to reduce wear on those exhaust bolt threads, i have switched to studs and bolts, but.....even with that it is a bit of a pita to get the pipe off.

    My question is this: I see "race" headers & pipes with the spring retaining setup....is there a way (ok, there is ALWAYS a way....) or rather, what would be involved in converting my pipe to a spring-retained setup? Any major disadvantages here?

    Well, the ones with springs usually have a spigot that bolts to the head then the end of the header pipes slip onto the spigot. To convert your bike you would need a set of spigots and then you would have to cut the inlet end off your headers so they could mount on the spigots along with welding a set of loops on the headers for the springs to anchor to.
