    carbs from a 82 on a 79?

hey, i have a 79 GS1000 and i picked up a basket case 82 GS1000. I was wondering if there's any advantage (or even if i can) use the carbs from the 82 on my 79.

There are many other differences between the two bikes, too.

First of all, there was no GS1000 in '82.

      The last GS1000 would have been an '81 GS1000G (shaft-drive), your '79 GS1000 would have been chain-drive.

I do know that the head from the '80 GS1000E (and S) was the same as the head on the GS1000G (shaft-drive), but I don't know if they would fit on an earlier block, all of which would have been chain-drive bikes.

In other words, if the newer head fits the older block, the only way to use the newer carbs would be to change the head, too.

can't use them eh? hmm well it's no big deal as there's nothing wrong with the stockers....not really much I can use off the 82. looks like they did alot of changes. you know if the pistons, cams, valves heads ect. are the same?
