    Gs750 engine flooded?

    Hey everyone,

I recently purchased my second gs, an 82 750e. It's a beast next to my 450. Anyway, a friend drove me to this shop where they sell bikes for people. They were having trouble charging the battery/ starting it when I got there. The owner then dropped in a new battery and new spark plugs and it fired up.
Shop owner pointed out that the previous bike owner installed an in line fuel shut off, said these bikes are notorious for leaky petcocks. Shop owner also admitted that the shut off valve had never been turned off since the bike was brought in several weeks prior.
I got the bike back home, nearly a 100 mile ride. Parked it. My brother came over about 30 minutes later and I told him to give her a whirl. He got almost around the block and it stalled out and didn't start back up again.
My question is, could I have a flooded engine? After a long ride home with no problems it doesn't seem like a possibility but then again what do I know? That's why I'm here asking the masters. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

The shop owner got you gone quickly- most don't want to bother with these old things unless your money is plentiful-best to suspect this new-to-you bike needs lots of attention. Yes, your petcock has failed, so get new one . Your crankcase oil is probably diluted with gas. Drain and change. Go here and read common problems

Z1 probably has your petcock or this guy

Thanks for the links. So on this petcock there is no off setting. Is that because the fuel is drawn in by vacuum?

Fuel is not "drawn in by vacuum", but vacuum does pull the valve open that lets the fuel flow.
