    GS750T won't go past 6,000 rpm

    Any thoughts on this? Carbs rebuilt, new plugs, new silicone wires, new Dyna coils, new petcock, battery, air filter, etc etc. The bike starts and idles great. It pulls with plenty of power but won't go above 6,000 rpm. Help?

    It might have something to do with where the position of the slide needle is. I'm quoting the Clymer book, but it might be worth a shoot if you've already tried everything else.

      Will it go above 6000 in second, third , etc. or is just under heavy loading? New air Filter not over oiled ?

        Look at the mechanical advance (part that has bolt in the middle of signal generator) make sure it is moving freely. Had wife's bike that lacked top power and didn't want to go over 55-60 mph and turned out that was rusted up. Lubed it up and got it moving and bike flew. terrylee

          Il so it looks like the carbs were missing the rubber plugs inside. On order. Almost there I guess.

            Update... Still no go. I ordered a new jet kit and the shop is going over the carbs again. Joy.

              Ask your shop to check diaphragms in all the carbs ,maybe you got pinholes in one ,so it's not lifting nicely, forcing other three cylinders to overwork. I'd find out what size jets you got in there now, before fiddling with any jet kits.
              You didn't answer question about.... Will it rev past 6k in lower gears

                  You been around here long enough to know that lots of shops take advantage, so best to get more curious. If it won't rev past 6k in any gear, it's very well is an electrical problem. If it falls flat on its face under heavy loading, i.e. In fourth or fifth , it's likely a fuel delivery issue, either inadequate fuel to carbs or mixture problems.
