okay to dip the choke plunger???

im getting to work on my 1980 gs750l i picked up recently and im wondering about dipping the choke plunger. i figured i would not dip the brass hex fitting with the rubbery dust boot on but wasnt sure if the rest was safe. seems like there might be a seal on the inner part of the plunger.

    thanks!

On mine there is a rubber seal that is held in place by what appears to be the rim having been rolled over.

    Ne dippez pas

Yeah number one is like a seal it seems to be made of rubber so do not dip.
A quick hit on the barrel with metal polish will clean it up nicely,

That inner seal will swell and crack if dipped. I agree whole-neartedly with not dipping either part.

A quick wipe with carb cleaner spray, then a trip across the buffer with both parts is normal procedure on my carb rebuilds.
