    Vm mystery ,

on my 79 1000E , I rebuilt my VM 26s carb , new o rings, the works, was looking good till I when to check float height , the # 2 would not stop leaking out the over flow , I switched ever thing around ,and still leaks #2 . so I took them back all apart, check ever thing , when all said and done ,what I found stumped me , the over flow tube was split from top to bottom, ? has any one ever see one split before if so what caused it to to split ???

you can repair them, if needed. I have replaced a few overflow tubes now. You can buy the exact same size copper tube from model making shops

I've soldered a couple before but like the others I've no idea why the split.

I too was gonna say try soldering the split shut since you have a replacement..no work..no foul. And i also wonder if there is any sort of gas proof tubing that could be sleeved over such a split???? Sort of like the sleeve thats over the wire in a sending unit. It isnt hurt by the fuel so find something that would work in the bowls maybe??????

you dont need JB weld, heat the cab body up and pull the old tube out. again heat up carb and push new tube in. it will be a tight fit so no need for anything else
