    What is this?

Can anyone tell me what these are? The four brass nipple things. One on the bottom of each carb. Mine are bare. Should they have covers on them or anything?

Not my carbs, just a picture for reference.

Those would be for checking the float levels with fuel. not all carbs have that exact type of system for checking it, like the bs32 carbs. on the bs 32 carbs, you have to modify a drain plug or find an nipple that fits to check the levels.

Thats NOT for checking fuel levels. Its the OVER FLOW tubes. Rubber hoses from them down between the swing arm and tranny in case the carbs do over flow.

The fuel level guage screws into the big brass drain plug hole and is held up along side the carb bowl.

Those are VM26 carbs. The brass nipples on the side of the throats are as follows.. The left one is a vent and stays open to the air. The one on carb 3 is the vacuum suction that goes up to the small nipple on the petcock. The one on carb 4 is also a vent and stays open to the air.

The vent tubes run over the top outer edges of the stock airbox and down with the over flows. if you got pods then just run the vent hose down there.
