Runs well but plugs are sooty black. Why? (GS1000 G)

I deleted the posts...didnt realise he had CV carbs and I didnt go back thru the thread to find out...my bad.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

Probably not what you need but, here is the easiest one for me to get a pic of and these are not the stock carbs (no idea what I got them from) but they did work well enough
to fire up this bike that has not ran in a little over 26 years and take it for a test ride.
A random pic from another set of 34CV carbs. that might even be those carbs.

Look on the carb bodies for any numbers stamped or molded on them. That would be a model code and someone here will know what they are. Buddy of mine down in texas had an actual Suzuki code book with all that kind of info. Dont know if he still does or not.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

If its a pull knob in the center of the steering head you loosen the nut there and turn the assembly one way or the other to get slack.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

Got any numbers on the side of any of the carb bodies??? You can order smaller..didnt I post the jet chart to this thread somewhere??? You gotta get the fuel supply slowed down for sure. Or maybe use a bigger air jet ( lower left one in the front of the carb throats ) to get more air into the mixture coming up out of the bowls. And thruthfully, it may boil down to a mixture of both smaller jets AND a bigger air jet up front.

How well packed is your muffler? If it is good shape and not blown out, return everything to stock in the carbs except the main jets. Make those 122.5's or 125's.
Make adjustments from there.
