    idle mixture screw springs

I pulled the carbs on my 80 gs1000g and found that at one time in this bikes life some left out all but one of the springs on the mixture screws. I went digging through my carb collection to see if maybe i could find some springs. I found some but they were a bit longer the the one that was in one of the carbs. Could those tiny bit longer spring be effecting how far down the screw bottoms out.

the bike is getting way to much fuel, to the point it running out the back of the carb when the bike is idling.

Plus when i hit the throttle i get one good rev then the next twist of the throttle it falls on its face.

    Thanks for the help,
    Daniel

I just found out that the floats are set really high.

Are you sure they are not trapped in the carbs? Use a paperclip with a little bend on the end to dig around in there. You might find them at the bottom.
