My other question I really need to know about before I proceed is the float valve. 3 of them are like the one on the left, one carb has an oddball. Is this acceptable? Anyway to check their function before I put everything back together?valve.jpg

AHHH.. I have done that but with a fine machine screw. Removed the screw head and made a piece of threaded rod . Tapped both sides of the break and kept cutting the bolt till when it tightened up with the post lined up. Once the wrist pin is inserted thru the float hinge it cant unscrew itself.

I didn't get new rubber plugs, guess I should. Also your saying to ditch the one goofy float valve i guess. Time to place an order

Yes on the plugs and hold on on the needle. Someone will verify what ones your bike is supposed to have. Ask questions of the other 650 owners and THEN get what is supposed to be there.

The plugs block the hole and make the pilots work right. without them fuel bypass makes the carbs run real rich and flood.
