Hey everyone,
I just bought my first bike, an 82 GS750tz. Upon taking apart the carbs I was greeted with a cracked housing where the Pilot Jet goes .
Ive been looking and looking but I can't seem to find the carb I need (the second one in the rack) or a whole used rack/replacement. Any ideas on where I could get one, or if I can replace them with different style carbs. Any input is helpful!

Definitely not a good thing.

You say "the second one in the rack", ... but from which side? Carbs are numbered from left to right, as you are sitting on the bike. #1 is under your clutch hand, #4 is under your throttle hand.

Which carb do you need, #2 or #3?

.

Nope:/
Its the second one from the left side. I found a pair of carbs off an 85 gs700e. I wonder since it uses the the BS32SS bodies like my bike, if I could just swap out the jets to match the specs in the carbs I have..

Yes, you can use the 700 carbs. They are the same spacing & same size. Just put your jets in if you want but I'll bet they will work pretty close as is if yours are stock & the 700 carbs are stock. Just adjust the mixture screws, sync them & see how it runs!
Ray.

Thanks a lot man! I think ill go ahead and order them tomorrow. I have a rebuild kit that I had ordered prematurely for my gs when i bought it so i may or may not swap in the jets. Thanks again. Ill update when the time comes, hopefully with good results:encouragement:

I'd put an ad in the Parts Wanted forum, making specific reference to which carb you need. Repairing your existing carbs is preferable in my view, compared to changing to a different set from a different bike. Check the carb rebuild tutorial linked in my signature if you need advice on how to rebuild the carbs.

single carbs are easy to come by..i may even have one from a rack i busted up for people needing singles.

"...... I have a rebuild kit that I had ordered prematurely for my gs when i bought"

avoid aftermarket rebuild carb kits- often have inferior parts. Unless damaged, the original stuff probably has not worn out, just needs proper cleaning to be good as new.

Thank you everyone for the help and input. I ended up picking up the carbs from an 85 700 i found on ebay, switched my jets and bam! she started on the third crank after being in pieces for who knows how long. :)
