Exhaust Compatibility 1979 GS750L with 1979 GS750E

Hi!

Can purchase a fairly nice 1979 GS750E model exhaust system. My bike is a 1979 GS750L. the exhaust systems are a tad different in that the L has a preMuffler (collector) and the E doesn't.

I'm hoping that the E rear mufflers mount into the same rear mounts as the L model.

Pictured below is the 1979 GS750L model with the PreMuffler

It will fit, worst thing you might have to file the mounting hole on the muffler a bit longer. Of course it looks a bit different, the 'E' model mufflers are longer so not sure how far the muffler will come to on your 'L' model but you should be able to figure that out with the pictures you have.
