    80 1100ex stumble

I have just rebuilt the top end of my 1100ex and am experiencing a strong hesitation at 3k rpm at about 1/4 opening. It is a fight to get over the trouble spot but once it does it takes off as it should and idles good. Its bad enough if you hold the throttle at this trouble spot the bike will die.

Rebuilt with 1133 kit, had the head decked .005, valves lapped, new stem seals, Added V&H 4-1, K&N in stock air box. Compression is 160's.

Carbs were totally overhauled, dipped in berrymans, ultrasonically cleaned, all o rings replaced, floats set, needle and seat replaced, mixture screws/washer/orings replaced and set at 2 1/2, vacuum synced, Dynojet kit, 45 pilots, DJ114 Main (Stage 1), DJ Needles, slides drilled,

A board member here advised me to set mixture screws by adjusting until highest idle but I can't see enough difference to adjust this way.

The number one plug shows rich, others appear normal. Also it should be noted that number 1 doesn't run well on choke (judging by header temp) Its only warm while other 3 are hot, but after turning off choke you can tell it comes alive.

I can't find any abnormalities in this carb,it was cleaned exactly as all the others, and am suspect it may be the reason its stumbling.. or it could be the jetting all together.

A proper riding is a very difficult procedure as it is about 10 degrees and I live on dirt road, which is currently a skating rink. The stumble is occurring on the lift in a heated garage as well as riding it.

Timing is good. I am just looking for some thoughts on the rich plug and heavy stumble. Thanks!

Put the clip on the third from the bottom and lose the DJ washer on top.
Make sure the #1 is synchronized to the others.

Thanks chef, took your advice and attached a picture of the new arrangement.
Currently there is a teething, sleepy infant in close proximity who is not old enough to appreciate the new 4-1's at midnight so will have to report back In the morning. Hopefully the richer mixture will solve the stumble. Thanks again.

Went with your arrangement and ended up at 3 turns out on mixture. Seems much better on the lift.

Won't know for sure until It warms up enough to ride.
