Air box sealing

Hello all,another day more questions but first thanks for all you're help.my 1979 gs thou is up and running. I've been looking at the air box sealing post,and wondering I've kept standard air box but replaced filter with k&n item,I understand that the clip inside air box secures filter but do I need to seal filter to plastic housing with silicone or something,as it just sits flush with nothing to mount on to thanks in advance great website

Here is what I did with mine. The upper plastic part of the housing was warped away from the metal bottom housing. There is a rubber seal around the inside but it is pretty much useless with the warp.
