    Trying to figure out what this piece on my carburator does?

    I have a 1978 Suzuki gs750 that's running but runs rough. I started taking apart the carburator and while removing the bowls on the bottom notice there was something damaged. I didn't take a picture but hopefully I can just explain what it is. It a metal stem that is long and Comes from the carburator. Well it was completely broken off. Does anybody know
    what this does?

    Going to need a pic or see if you can find something that looks similiar on the carb fiche.

      Choke jet
      Pulls fuel from your bowls when you choke the bike.
      You can replace it.

        image.jpgTo the left in this picture is the long brass stem coming from the carburators to the Bowls. So if this was broken it wouldn't matter unless I was using the choke??

            What Bill said...enrichment circuit pick up tube. And to the OP...youll need to be sure that hole in the bowl that the tube fits into in the bowl is cleaned out as well. Youll see a hole at the bottom of that hole inside the bowl itself. That hole feeds fuel into the hole and feeds that tube. there is a small hole at the bottom that often gets choked off with crud. Poke the hole out and use carb spray and air to ensure it is open.

              It's the white and red arrow in the picture. So the enrichment pick up tube can be replaced? Any of you guys have
              issues with your petcock valve? I have to leave it on prime for the motor to actually keep running or it stalls out. I took it apart and clean it but nothing changed. My
              vaccum lines are hooked up correctly.

                Yes the petcocks go bad, DO NOT leave it on prime though when not running. Free flowing fuel can seep into the crankcase and dilute the oil. If you dont catch it you run the risk of tearing up cam and crank bearings. Sounds like new petcock time. Yes they can be replaced with ordinary brass tubing of the same diameter. just drill a few small holes at the top like the originals or get a donor from a carb with a broken float hinge post and swap them out.

                And a little tip for cleaning the pick up tubes hole. Little heating with a torch or heat gun and youll see black crud come bubbling out the hole on the inner side of the bowl.. Heat it and dunk it in water a few times. Then poke out the hole and rinse well with carb spray.

                  The brass tube thats in the bowl itself is the overflow tube. If a float sticks open or the float hts are wrong this will pour excess fuel out the bottom
