here are the factory spec for the 1150 carbs
84 GS1150

Float height---------- 21.4 +- 1.0 mm

jet needle------------ 5D14
Needle jet ----------- X-3
Pilot jet ---------------#45
By pass--------------- 0.9,0.8,0.9 mm
pilot outlet------------ 0.9 mm
Valve seat------------ 2.0 mm
Starter jet------------ #32.5
Pilot screw------------ PRE-SET (2 turns back)
Throttle valve--------- #130
pilot air jet------------- #125
Throttle cable play-----2-3 mm
choke cable play-------0.5-1.0 mm
those plugs look like your running very rich on the fuel mixtures and this is the good news because you can easily fix it by rejetting the bike
if it was oil then you would be spending a lot more money to cure the problem
The general "rule of thumb" for jetting increases will suggest you to go up 3 to 5 sizes for an exhaust system and 4 to 6 sizes for pods. Seeing as you have both, something in the range from 7 to 11 sizes larger than stock.
so in your case you would want 142.5 for #1&4 and 145 for #2&3 and more than likely stock pilot jets
those jet sizes are going up by 9 sizes so it should put you in the area where you can then start fine tuning it

Stuff I've done to my bike:dancing: 1100E front end with new Sonic springs, 1100E swing arm conversion with new Progressive shocks installed, 530 sprockets/chain conversion, new SS brake lines, new brake pads. New SS fasteners through out. Rebuilt carbs, new EBC clutch springs and horn installed. New paint. Motor runs strong.

Changing the heat range of the plugs is just a "Band-Aid". Fix the real problem, instead.
What brand of pods do you have? Yes, it makes a difference in jetting.
What 4-into-1 do you have? What baffle is in it? Yes, it makes a difference in jetting.
Where are you coming up with strange jet sizes like 147 and 149.5?
Using that "rule of thumb" that was presented earlier, you might need something in the 135-145 range, if using Mikuni jets.
If you are using Dynojet parts, they would be 144-154, and there is usually no need to increase the pilots, so 45s should work just fine there.
