1979 850 with loud MAC 4/2, hoping to find stock pipes...what years will interchange?

Having no luck with the search function....Apologies if this is a common question and I've missed it.

On the parts fiche, the part #s change somewhat between 79 and later years... but has anyone had experience/luck using later years' mufflers on a 1979 850G?

The headers are fine...and the MAC flare tips are OK but kind of loud, and way less classy than stock.

I seem to find more 80-83 exhausts in OK shape than '79 ones. Wondering if the measurements would still line up....

    Thank you,

My kids wish I had a sidecar. But I don't.

The head pipes themselves should be no problem. The only differences you might run into is the rear mount. That said looking at pics of a 1979 side by side with my bike that had original exhaust on it when I got it I can see no appreciable differences.

      I have a good 80 GS1000G pipe.
If you are in the US it won't be too bad to ship via fedex.
