    So 1978 gs750 pods and 4 into 1 mod

    check float bowl level
order new o rings from cycle o rings
    order new intake boots
order new float bowl and top bowl gaskets
replace main jets with 117.5 and adjust pilot? May replace with 17.5
    have valves checked

use tutorial I found here along with some carb cleaners and rebuild carb and attach mods

any recommendations? I'm still unsure of how vm carbs pilot's are better and don't need replacing

With my 78 gs400 I ended up changing my needle jet, pilot, and main jets on my bs38s. Kept the stock needle size but adjusted it's position. Runs great! Go rich and tune down. Snap testing, high gear pulls, popping while decelerating, even the idle mixture screw setting, applying the choke while riding, these all will tell you which direction to go, just use baby steps. Don't go in, change a bunch of things. I think this part is just as fun as building the bike.
