1978 GS1000 Tank Replace or repair please HELP!!!

    I have a 78' Skunk tank

I am planning to take it to a radiator shop to be welded n sealed. For some reason if that were to fail im hunting ebay.

I've found numerous 1980 GS550L tanks and they appear to be a similar tank as far as mounting.
    example - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Suzuki-GS550...b7922f&vxp=mtr

    What tanks will fit a 78' GS1000

    Thanks

The 1100 tanks fit, but the petcock aren't the same size and they hit the carb. But it can be made to work.

'80 - '81 GS 750E tank is the same as the 1100E. Depending on the year the petcock may or may not fit.

For what it's worth, I just finished cleaning & sealing a Skunk tank... I would go to great lengths to keep yours functional. There hasn't been very many available in the past few weeks & they cost a lot, then you have to fix them once you get it. I even considered cutting the bottom out of this one so that I could get in it to properly clean it. Hope I don't have to, but I am still prepared to do so. Keep yours, fix it. Don't use Kreem. Fix it properly.
