    850 vm carbs

Someone sent me a set of VM carbs he says are off a 850. I'm not sure how to tell if they're 850 or 1000. When I measure the intake side the outside dimension is 33.86 mm.

    Are they indeed 850 carbs?

Let's try it another way to get more responses. How do I tell the difference between 850 and 1000 carbs?

For the vm carbs, 750's, 850's, 1000 all used the same vm26 model. What was different was main jet size and needles.

No, the 750/850 carbs have the idle adjustment screw on top, at an angle

The 1000 carbs screw is vertical between #2 and #3

The carburetors themselves are the same except for jetting. The mounting hardware is different, the choke, and the idle screw, but it will work on any of them. I swapped them around just because I like the little choke lever on the carb from the 750 better than the silly cable from the 1000. It all fit just fine.
