A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I pulled the carbs off my bike and am getting ready to do a cleaning and rebuild. I was wondering what you're guys' recommendation is for a carb dip to get the carbs nice and clean. Also where to get it. I live in Illinois if that helps because I know you can't find in some states.

You can buy a version of Berrymans at Wal*mart I think.
I have used it with some success...But I still prefer my ultrasonic cleaner from Harbor Freight and Simple Green diluted with water.
Most of the carbs I have done showed remarkable success this way without any discoloration (potentially from the Berrymans).
After a good U/S cleaning I blow them out with WD40 to remove water and a compressed air dry.
Poke a few holes clean with tiny wires and you are in business

Berrymans Professional is part # 0901.. its a square metal 1 gallon can and you will only find it at an old fashioned parts store NOT autozone or advance etc.. try an old mom and pop auto parts store. Compared to the 'regular' berrymans it works MUCH better..
If you can't find that, you can get the 5 gallon but its $140 and is part #0905.
The "regular" stuff seen in walmart etc is part #0996 and works but not too good anymore IMHO

I looked up those ultra sonic cleaners and they look pretty reasonable. What size cleaner works best you think?

Mine is a 300W one If I remember correctly, BUT it has a COMBINED(WATCH OUT HERE) wattage of 300
the ultrasonic part is 150W and the HEATER is 150W.. kind of misleading. Id much rather have one that's 300 Watts ultrasonic only with no heater lol.
You need more than 200 watts ultrasonic in my opinion for much of anything but more of a concern is the SIZE of the tank.
Make sure you find one that measures deep enough etc for at least one carb body!!!! mine takes one carb body easily and I can flip it 4 times to really get into the passageways.
