Exhaust collets needed for center pipes on Gs1100 with V&H pipe ?
Just wondering if you need to use the factory exhaust collets like used on the stock center pipes of an 80 GS1100E or not with a Vance & Hines 4-1 pipe ? Ive been using double gaskets because I didn't even know those collets existed, they weren't on the bike when I bought itTags: None

I always had to use double gaskets with my old V&H on my GS1000. Unless the 1100 head is different I don't see why you would need the collets. The V&H has such a skimpy sealing ring at the end of the pipe any mounting angle less than perfect dictates two gaskets to seal properly without bending the bolt flanges.http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...ine=1440711157'78 GS1000E, Dyna-S ignition, Dyna Green Coils, K&N pods, Delkevic SS 4-1 exhaust, Dynojet Stage 3 jet kit, Russell SS Brake Lines, Progressive suspension, Compu-Fire series Regulator 55402 and Advmonster cree LED headlight conversion.

That's what Ive been doing, I never knew the collets existed until I took the stock pipes off my 1150 then looked at a parts book for the 1100 and saw them there
