If the carbs have been recently rebuilt and the bike has already been run, there is no need to remove them to bench sync them.
The bench sync process is just to get them close enough to run after being fully disassembled.

The slides will "adjust" themselves based on how much air is flowing under them.

As long as the carbs are CLEAN (follow the tutorial), they will do their job with no input from you.

Do NOT take any shortcuts. Any shortcut taken is just another opportunity to do it over.

Thanks to everyone, except the Tkent02; you're a condescending douche bag. You should shove your big ****ing hammer up your ass.

I have a manual. I have already dissembled the carbs, dipped them, replaced the o-rings and installed a Thunderslide. This isn't my first rodeo; I'm just not used to rice burners, I have Harleys. I also have a SyncPro and a Colortune to do a fine tune but I've read so many posts here about bench syncing that I thought I might be missing something. The bike starts but the #3 cylinder is cold. It has spark and the timing is right so I'm guessing carb.

            Thanks again.

After you get the slides back in and the caps on top raise the slide by hand and hold your finger over the oval shaped hole at the top of the carb. If the slides stay up when you let go of them the rubber diaphragms are good, if they don't either you haven't got them sealed or the slides are bad. These guys are trying to help you, ****ing them off isn't in your best interest. Sure you will get some crap but just deal with it. There are several recent threads on carb synching if you search for them. There are very smart people on here and Id personally be lost without them, chef1366, rapidray etc. I posted a bench synch one myself yesterday or the day before but Im not the caliber that they are

I understand and agree with you, Katarat. I appreciate the help from the members. I guess I've just gotten so much attitude on sites like this I'm a little burned out. Most people want to help but there are always a few people who think they know it all and like to mess with newbies. I apologize to everyone except Tkent02, who is still a douchebag.

                  What's a "Thunderslide"?

                  Never heard of one.

By the way, I just re-looked at the first post and see that this is for an '82 GS1000.
What part of the world are you in that you found one of them?
                  The chain-driven 1000s ended in '80, the shaft-driven 1000s ended in '81.

A Thunderslide is a plastic type material CV slide that Dyno-Jet makes for Harley Keihen carbs, its lighter and theres a lighter spring that goes with it, supposed to be more responsive. Its a waste of money. As far as the bench synch goes I did it then put my new Morgan Pro on my 1150 and they were all over the place so I don't know if its even worth the bother
