air screw broke in carb body

I am rebuilding my carbs and on one of them the air screw broke off just below the threads and the rest is stuck in the carb body. I had it run through an ultrasonic cleaner hopping that would loosen it and it would come out,no luck.
Does anybody have a solution or has run into this?
I do have a line on another bank of carbs off a friends parts bike but would like to save this one if I can.
    Thanks

On Cv carbs, remove the puck that they put in to plug the access hole the manufacturer made to drill the hole.

If you have an "air screw", that means you have VM carbs on a '79 or older bike. Not sure what it would take to get that screw out.

If you have an '80 or newer bike (or a twin), you don't have "air screws", you have "MIXTURE screws" (more-properly called 'pilot' screws).

I have seen some of these stuck in the threads, but never broken below them.

Please identify the carbs, and also which one you need, as they are position-specific.

The number on the side of the carb is 45170 , the reply with the link is workable if I remove the puck behind the butterfly valve in the throat of the carb.

Page 10 of the carb cleanup series shows exactly what I have, that is why I called it an air screw.

A butterfly and an air screw on the same carb? What is this some kind of Honda or something?

My bad terminology, not butterfly but throttle plate.

We need to know what model/year the bike is. If it's a 1980 or newer bike I may have a replacement carb body for you.

Instead of muddling through all the technical terms, just tell us what bike you have.

Any further attempts at help will be useless until we know what bike we are talking about.

Sometimes the tips can be felt thru the hole if you run your finger down the bores. If you can feel the tips take something and press them back in and see if that helps pop them out. That and the fine tip of the home made removal tool may be the magic mix.

yep, tried that,no joy, the guy who did the ultrasonic dip (very experienced guy) tried too but no luck. I am afraid this one is toast. I think these carbs were also used on some other bikes of the same vintage/ 550 or 650 ?

Measure the bore at the engine side....should be 32 or 34 MM. Then get then corresponding carb in that bore size. Carbs are referred to as 1, 2 ,3 or 4. #1 being the carb to the left as you are setting on the bike.

The carbs are 32 mm and it is the #2 carb that is the problem
