drilled out air/fuel screw??!!

    drilled out air/fuel screw??!!

    It seems like the po tried to drill out a stripped air/fuel screw and gave up. Is there any way to take this out or do I need a new body?

    I would go with a new body. Threads most likely chewed up by the drill bit. 32 or 34 MM??

      No need to panic.

      If you have a Dremel rotary tool, put a large cut-off wheel in it and cut down the center of that 'tower' and put a slot in the top of the screw. Flush the chips out, use a good screwdriver to remove the screw.

      It will look a bit like this, and there is no need for a new body:

        IF the threads arent already ganked to crap. Looks like the drill bit has slammed off the sides of the hole more than a few times...which is why I said what I said.

          Thanks for the replies guys. I'm not sure if 32 or 34 I will measure. The bike is a 80 gs850 g if that tells you anything.
          I don't work on bikes a whole lot, but definitely do on cars, and it translates all the same. I hate to see shoddy work, and trust me, there's more than enough to go around on this bike...
          I will bring it back to where it runs properly that's for sure, it just seems like it's a never ending story with it.
          The bike was already chopped up, so there's no point in a resto, but she definitely wants to run, so will make her run.
          I'll try to cut the towers and see where that gets me, thank you for the info :beer:

            Most likely 32 MM. Measure the bore at the engine side.

              It will be a 32mm carb and looks like the #1 carb. You can attempt what Steve has indicated and try slotting the screw tower first. If that doesn't work, and you need a replacement carb body, just let me know. I have one cleaned and ready for install that you can purchase. I even have the mixture screw assembly for it. Just PM me if you're interested.
