80 gs850...was stock ( i think ) before I hacked off the mufflers and put some pretty easy flow noisemakers on, I also have some pods of unknown origin on now..( made in china ??) And...I am putting sidecar on soon! Then, gonna run to Death Valley with it. ( mid Feb) Time is not on my side...thinking of dynojet kit. Might have time for a quick install and a little run time before its go time.... Thoughts?

I think you had better make sure you put some miles under the bike once all that is done before you go to Death Valley, to get the bugs worked out. Don't use cheap pods, use K&N or APE.

Put 122.5 jets in to start, you may have to go up one size on the pilots as well to run right with pods and start your pilot screws out 2 1/2 turns to start. Am curious about your hack set up.

a older velorex ...actually it's a 1980 model, I had to have fiberglass work done...the opening to get in and out was to small. I had windshield moved forward by 8 inches.

And.....where do you suggest to get individual jets vs dyno jet kit? I will drive it as is and see how it responds. Lots of people seem to use the dyno jet kit.....

EMGOs are better...less restriction, cheaper, and washable....K+Ns are a ripoff....didnt used to be, but are now.....I been runnin EMGOs for the past 4 years....I get 4 for $18....all I need is 2....and 2 pods last me a season....that works out to $9/yr......fook K+N....at the price I get the Emgos for, I dont even bother washin em....check the outside intake on your carb, and find a compatible....I bet a KZ1000 will work...its 32mm....

EMGOs are JUNK. Period.

They barely keep out anything bigger than a pebble. I can see that you don't care much for your bikes, if you choose to run such crappy filtration.

Ive run the "high end" sheit....found it was so restrictive I was 20% lower on the dyno....

I looked at the EMGO website once to see about filter cleaning information. They recommend NOT cleaning the filters, as they are paper, not fabric, like the APE and K&N filters. Once they get dirty, throw them out.

Besides not filtering much out of the air, they also have a tendency to cause keyboard errors, especially a stuck period key.
