    RS 36 carbs enough for a 1327?

I have the carbs and don't really want to go buy new ones. Can a properly set up set of 36's effectively serve a mild 1327 used for around town work and occasional test and tune drags?

The posts I've seen in the forum regarding carb size seem to tend toward the larger size carb sets. As in 40 or better for big engines like this.

I will be watching this thread to see the responses.

I don't mean to change the thread but your question about seems to imply that you would like to know if a set of 36s would be too much of a limitation or bottle neck on a big motor. RPM operating range/cam choice and head porting may also impact how big/small the carb set can/should be.

It would also be interesting to know if the common aftermarket exhaust systems like V&H are a limiting point or bottle neck on motors of 1300cc or larger.

Also, is this 1327 an 1150 cylinder based sleeved block? Or an aftermarket block?

I do like the big bore bikes...

I've read good things about torque on bikes that are just slightly undercarbed, and I'm most interested in a super snappy beast around town. It will be a 1327 via a sleeved 1150. I don't think the race Yosh I have on the bike will be a limiting factor.

The 36s will work well & just require the correct jetting. You WILL have a good amount of torque & even better driveabilty than with 38s or 40s. I hope you like wheelies!!

Just make SURE you vacuum sync them after you put them on!! I set the idle at 2500 & do that first and THEN turn the idle back down & adjust the mixture screws. You will be amazed at the difference it makes if it is running rough!!

Sounds right. I assume by around town you mean essentially stock RPM operation range.

An unported head and stock cam would be able to support a 25% increase in displacement but would limited power at higher RPMs. Still, lots of fun.

The 1290/1327 motor mods have always looked interesting to me.

I plan to keep stock cams, degreed and have the head cleaned up, radius the valves, etc. I want a torque monster.

RS36's on a piped/jet kitted 1150 are worth 3 tenths in the 1/4 mile over the jet kitted factory carbs...amazing!
