GS1000 muffler opinions & exhaust pipe diameter

Hi folks, looking to get some new mufflers for my GS1000. Any opinions on a set that will lose the tameness of the (ridiculously quiet) stockers without making me deaf? Hoping to get something around a 20 inch length, the stock muffs are 27's and just too long. Has anyone tried Emgo stuff? Their pipes seem to be reasonable prices. Planning to stick with dual pipes and like to keep the price $200 and under for the pair.

Also, what diameter are GS1000 pipes where they enter the muffler? Far away from my GS at the moment and can't check

See my 78 1000 thread http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...rks&highlight= the exhaust posts start at 148.I believe I had 1 1/2" stubs welded in.

I can't answer to muffler options, but I can certainly recommend what I put on my bike, built power through the entire power band, looks and sounds great: https://www.z1enterprises.com/product/DECOM2765

Didn't know about those, they are a great suggestion for a 4 into 2.

(Mine came with a Kerker 4 into one, put on a mid pipe and D&D street pack muffler. )

Thanks guys. Looking to stick with the dual exhaust, but the diameter measurement at least lets me start looking at options.
