Carbs leaking like crazy!
My carbs have been rebuilt just over a year ago and the bike has never run since (ongoing restoration project). I'm finally ready to get it running, hook it up to some fuel and it start pouring out the vent tube in the photo. It was pouring out as fast as it could fill the carbs! Now if i remember correctly its leaking because my float needles aren't seating right? that would make sense since we were a little iffy about re using them but decided to when looking at the cost of new oem ones ($$$$). I believe I bought a set off of partsNmore afterwards just in case these ones didn't work. is this all I'm looking at replacing?

Usually float valve issues would be the case, but have you tried giving them a little rap with a hammer first? Sometimes the floats can get stuck and a little rap gets them moving again. You may also verify the float bowl gasket and make sure it's not contacting the float. Some aftermarket gaskets can cause this. Verify the float height and make sure you're measuring from the base of the carb body WITHOUT the gasket to the shoulder of the float. If none of this works then replacing the valve and seat is your best option. I've had some good and some bad luck the the PartsNMore float valves. Usually problems arise from the screens that sometimes can fall out. Most of the time they work OK.http://img633.imageshack.us/img633/811/douMvs.jpg

Does a feeder tube go between them? how does the carb on the left get fuel without it? Connect a line between the two where it is leaking.

hey you guys, thanks for all the replies, yesterday i was off work at 2:30, rushed through a blood donor appointment by 3:30 and decided to go work on the bike while i still had some day light! pulled the carbs off and replaced one of the float needles with one of my spare new ones, the old one pressed down fine but i figure i should replace it anyways since the carbs were open. Hooked it back up to some gas and it doesn't leak! So back on the bike the carbs went and then the bike fired up right away. I believe the bike is running hotter on the one side, and it doesn't want to idle without the choke or without a little bit of throttle, but when giving it a little gas it seems to be running strong, no misfire or sputtering that i can tell. Anybody located close to the Fraser valley who is good at tuning these things
