    Float level and fuel/air mixture

    Can someone explain the relationship between the float level and the fuel/air mixture? I've read that a low or high float can cause lean or rich conditions. How does this happen? I see the floats as a control to regulate the fuel level in the bowl. I just don't understand how this can effect the mixture. Please enlighten me.

    Higher fuel level makes it richer, there's less vertical distance from the surface of the fuel to the venturi, so a given amount of vacuum pulls more fuel up into the venturi. Opposite with a low fuel level, the same vacuum will pull less fuel into the venturi.

        Doh!! Had you told me that before I would have come up with some BS about how it scrambles intermolecular energy fields in the hydrocarbons or something.
