New Delkevic exhaust system 4 into 1

I put this exhaust on. Their paper work said most bikes would not need rejeted. First ride seemed fine rode 25 or 30 miles. While it was idleing wating for the garage door to open at home it died. Now starts like a champ. But will not idle / hanging idle / a little surging. I'm going to try and adjust the idle screws to see if that will fix it. Checked for air leaks had two loose clamps on airbox hoses tighted them, seemed to make it worse. If you guys have any ideas please let me know. Idle adjustment knob is no help rpm too high or too low. I'm going to get some Beer and figure this out.....It was running great but I thought my old exhaust was ugly so I changed it! Dang

Delkevik says these exhaust are tested on a properly tuned motorcycle matching the one they are to switch out with. Mine clearly had some issues. Thats how this exhaust thread morphed into Carb and valve. The stock exhaust seemed to tolerate the issues. Just 2 months ago I raced a buddy on the way home from work. His 2 seat BMW sports car. I'm sure we were in the tripple digits speed wise. These bikes in the stock form arn't as tempermental as some think.

thank you, I think I will have to rejet. Re-adjusting the idle screws are not much help. I'm going to tear it apart and clean the carbs and adjust the valves. and gather info on jetting

You might want to try reducing the thickness of the plastic washer that sits on top of the needle. That will richen up the entire power band, but mostly the lower range.

Thank you, I already did that and forgot why. When I took the slides apart these tiny washers fell out 3 on each needle. I can't believe how dirty the carbs are. Brownish yellow crust, black nasty stuff, and some blob looking clear gel stuff. Holy Cow

Let me know how that works.

Most people that I have observed have a bit more trouble figuring things out after the ingestion of alcohol.

A few beers while taking things apart not so bad. Would not do technical work. By the way, my needle valve seats for the float bowls do not want to come out. I'm afraid I will break them if I get too rough, any ideas how to deal with them safely. thanks.... Never mind I put some 3 in 1 oil on them worked them around and out. a little scratching from the pliers but can be smoothed up.
