Drill out plug for mixture screw

I domt want to drill the wrong thing anyone anyone have a picture of ehat exactly i need to drill. Couldnt find anything to helpful on google

If your talking about the aluminum cap that covers the screws, just use a small drill bit and drill easy just till you drill through. Then use a drywall screw and screw it in. Yank with pliers and the screw is then exposed.

Once you get to that point, be careful. The screws are painted in place, they usually don't just come out without damage.

Forgot to add the bikes a 81 450. Is it the cicle plug here in between the two screw holes

NO!!! you are on the bottom of the carb there. The plug you want to drill is on the TOP side of the carb.

Actually, on your 450, it might be on the side, but still at the top.

Check out Nessism's guide, you will see where they are on the other CV-type carbs, yours will either be in the same place or just turned sideways in the same location.

EDIT: I just looked at Nessism's tutorial, what you are looking for is on pages 13-19.

You are taking apart stuff that doesn't want to be taken apart. Get the right information before you ruin the carburetor.

I didnt think that was it. The rebuild guied i got off someone on here showes tht side of the carb but didnt say exactly what to drill. Was hopeing soneobe could give me a more accurate pic for the 450 so i dont drill the wrong thing

OK, found this picture from a previous post.

Look on the "right side" picture. Find the cross-head screw on the clamp that is near the fuel tube, at the top of the carb. It is under the letter "T" and just above the red line. (If I could edit the picture, I would circle it for you.) Now find another cross-head screw to the left of that and just a little bit lower, it is next to the choke plunger. Once you find both of them, look in the shadow between them, you will see the mixture screw. The cover has already been removed, so you see the slot that is the top of the screw.


The one on the "left side" picture is just to the right of, and a little bit below, the screw on the clamp.

Yes, normally it would have a metal plug with a small hole in the middle. Looks like someone has already done the removal part. See if they turn easily. If so then someone did the hard part as well.

Is it the hole infront of my finger. If so thibk i found the problem they look pretty empty. I can se some threads a lil was down and then its just hollow. So if thats it anyone know where i can find. Serial number or buy them im gonna start looking now just in case.

Well ptobly exsplabes why i couldbt get my bike to run with out the choke and adjusting the idle screw while slowly coming off the choke. Well hopefully there easyer to find then the needle jet was
