    Tank liner removal tips please

    I know that the MEK will soften it up, which is what its doing in this tank I am working on. Its making it like a slimy goop inside. Just wondering what other solvents or cleaners I can use ( that dont cost 25.00 a gallon) to rinse the gooey snot stuff out once the MEK has done its thing.

    I was kinda wondering if just gasoline would swish it out the petcock hole?? The MEK is only gonna do so much is my impression.

    Any chemicals that will further dissolve the epoxy and allow it to be rinsed out of the tank?? Was wondering what can chemically be done now that the MEK seems to have it to a snot like condition..but yet not rinse away.

      I've heard of people cooking it out in an oven at about 850 degrees.

        You could try brake fluid, it desolves fiberglass pretty well

          Cellulose thinners takes it off pretty quickly.

            Celluloe thinners??? Examples please..Im not quite sure what that is.

              It's the solvent you add to cellulose paint to thin it before spraying (or the cheaper, less refined version for cleaning your spray gun). I don't know if you can get it in the US Chuck as it's controlled over here and only meant to be used when painting classic vehicles (it's the old fashioned compound for spray painting).

                  Smells of pear drops ( he says and has no idea if you guys get those sweets...). I think it contains toluene but whatever's in there dissolves a hell of a lot of stuff. It's also used over here as a carb dip.

                    Probably toluene, it is what was in a lot of those older carb and choke cleaners. About the same strength as MEK, just doesn't evaporate as quickly.

                      A lot came out with the MEK. Theres still some smaller patches that I can see thru the petcock hole and the sending unit hole. Its a red coating so I made the assumption its Red Kote. The website says Acetone to remove so I will get some tomorrow after work and get that soaking in there as well.

                      What did run into the bucket when I drained it was really red as well.
