    450 idle screw

After searching and only finding "how to's" for 4 cylinder Gs's. I felt I had to ask.
2 1/2 turns is the starting point for the idle screw, Right?
I cleaned both carbs, but I did not mess with them thinking the idle was great before.
(I know that was dumb now)
I counted the complete 360* turns and they where both set at 6 full turns.

If you did not take them out and clean out the passages then you haven't "cleaned" the carbs.

6 full turns is almost falling out - what is the bike running as far as exhaust / airbox.
    Current:
Z1300A5 Locomotive (swapped my Intruder for it), GS450 Cafe Project (might never finish it....), XT500 Commuter (I know - it's a Yamaha )

    Past:
    VL1500 Intruder (swapped for Z1300), ZX9R Streetfighter (lets face it - too fast....), 1984 GSX750EF, 1984 GSX1100EF (AKA GS1150)
And a bunch of other crap Yamahas....

If you look on Basscliff's website he has a rebuild tutorial for the 450 carbs.

2.5 turns is a good starting point. At more than about 3.5 or 4 turns the circuit will be maxed out.

It has the stock airbox with a bad diy filter. Also has the stock pipes but the mufflers look to be "uncorked".

Hard to tell from the pic, but if I was you I'd re-clean the carbs (take out the idle screws this time) and try it with 2 1/2 turns. If it's too lean, then adjust them out.

If you get to 6 turns then you need a larger pilot jet.
