Source for real Mikuni float needles?

Yes they are. They do not come with filter, o-ring, or clip but are the same as the BS parts. If you look in the Mikuni catalog they don't even acknowledge the existence of BS carbs. AFAIK they were all OEM and parts were left to the OEM to distribute. However there is usually the same part used in the Retail lines as well. The RS carbs use a lot of the same parts.

Last I ordered from them..maybe a year ago or so..all they told me was there was a 5 dollar charge because i wasnt a dealer or repair shop.

These guys are a Sudco dealer http://www.britcycle.com , yes they are a Canadian company but they have a US division/ warehouse.

I purchased my smoothbore stuff from them, they will get you anything in the Sudco catalog.

If you notice the last two digits of the part # like on the previous package posted was 2.0 that is the measurement of the hole that supplies the fuel. 2.0 mm's happens to be that measurement The larger the number the more fuel it will flow. I have found some with the same overall dimensions but had a 3.0 mm or larger hole which we used for racing purposes or where more fuel consumption was needed. Only genuine parts usually supply that dimension at the end of the part # that I have noticed. So obviously you would not want a smaller # then what the carb requires, Larger no problem the float bowl just fills up quicker.

I just finished rebuilding a set of GS750 carbs using K&L float needles, because that is what I had on hand. The weight of the float compressed the needle spring so it was necessary to hold up the float in order to set float height.

The "clear tube" method showed the fuel level was a little high and bending the float tang didn't make much difference. I blame the weak spring.

I have purchased 16 OEM Mikuni seat and valve assemblies over the last few years. I received complete units where the retainer clip and filter were also attached. AOK. Additionally, I have used the K & L needles......with good results. For sure the plunger spring is 'weaker' than factory and, for me, the only downside was the plunger compressing with float weight as Nessism said.. With carb tipped sideways, float weight not an issue...but still a pita. I took a spare new K&L float needle and used some epoxy to eliminate the plunger movement. Then used that needle to set float height in each carb. Easy and accurate. That said, the complete Mikuni seat / needle others referenced here.....nice pieces indeed.

Received the needle/seat assemblies today and they are exactly as shown in bobgroger's photo.

After reviewing the Mikuni needle information I think there are a few other p/n's that would be fine too.

The 786-46001-2.0 looks similar but has a clip (like the OEM needles) to keep the needle from falling too far out of the seat which I think is a good idea. https://www.amazon.com/Mikuni-Needle.../dp/B0022ZSZVC

The $60 each price is a bit stiff from Suzuki. I plan to eventually replace all of them on my keeper bikes. Keeps the fuel in the tank in case you accidentally leave the petcock on Prime. Not that I have ever done that. Last time I only noticed because of the pool of oil under the bike leaking out the shifter shaft seal.....
