Dynajet or not....

Hi all.
Ok. I've been tinkering with my carbs again....
and also looking at different videos and technical pages online...
i have a GS 850 With CV carbs and inside those carbs are float needles with slots and an "e-clip" for adjusting the needle height...
now, whilst looking online, a few pages seemed to indicate that standard CV carbs had a non adjustable needle... and then they showed a Dynajet needle which featured the "e-clip" adjuster...
does this mean someone in the past has fitted a DJ?
The jets look like standard ones not the bigger DJ jets...
thank you in advance for any enlightenening ideas...

In some countries the CV carbs came with slotted needles in some years of 850....
Give us a clue?

As Tkent said, its possible your's came from the factory with an adjustable needle. You might be able to tell from the size marked on the main jet though. Since Dynojet uses a different numbering system, if it has a size stamped into it that is allot different than the factory main jet, it could be an indicator of a Dynojet kit being installed.

Mikuni parts have a symbol stamped on them, like a little square inside the corner of a bigger square.

Then a part number like 5D50 or something similar. Not sure that's correct for your 850 because I still don't know which year you have, but it might be.

If this is the same "Seana23" that was here several years ago, she is in the UK with an '80 850.

Seana, you can also get a clue about the needle by looking at the taper on it. The stock needles (here in the USA) started at 3mm diameter just below the slide and slimmed down to about 2.5 or 2.6mm at the tip. DJ needles were considerably thinner at the tip.
