Is it necessary to cover carb dip container?

When using carb dip to clean the carbs is it necessary to put the lid back on and seal it? Because I want to soak longer parts but I'm not sure if this would affect the effectiveness of the dip itself.

volatile nasty stuff you will lose a volume of product and needlessly polute the aire around you.
But it will not reduce the efficacy of the solution in the short term at least.

Simply place a plastic bag over part and container and wrap it under the can. It will reduce evaporation and make the cleaning process more effective.
It is solvent based, it will loose effectiveness from its loss.

I would rather trust my bike to a technician that reads the service manual than some backyardigan that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix things.
