    Another exhaust fitment post.

    Hello everyone,
I *think* my bike is a 1980 GS1100L, at least to the best of my knowledge. Previous owner deleted the airbox and added pod filters without ever adjusting or re-jetting the carbs. So I took it to a shop (I don't deal with carbs because I have a tendency to lose small parts) and they told me what I figured they would: "It idles fine now but its a dog at lower rpm. Get a better exhaust, we'll re-jet it, and it'll wake it up again."

So in my hunt for a performance exhaust that also looks good enough to match my ideas for the final product, I'm having some difficulty. Is this the same engine as the GS1100E? And if so, with the GS750E exhaust fit on my bike? I'm really only concerned with the down-pipes fitting to the engine, any aft-mounting issues I can take care of.

I called Delkevic and they basically were like "Maybe the 750E ones will fit. I think. Uhhh..." so I would prefer to have someone here give me a warm fuzzy feeling before I pull the trigger on buying those.

    Thanks all!

Thanks sharpy, right now the fastest solution (and higher performance solution) is to replace the existing exhaust system. Stock airbox would be great, but I'd probably end up getting rid of it eventually on my own anyway.

Just need to know if the 750E downpipes will fit properly on a 1100L engine.

99% certain they do - Delekvic can be a bit hit and miss on quality though - I've had to apply some "engineering" to get a good fit in the past and by engineering I mean pry bars, rubber mallets and muscle

It might also be as simple as re-jetting the carbs to match your current situation.

Most of the re-jetting requirements come from changing the intake, the exhaust does not need that much more.

bsharpish, steve thanks for the replies.

I was planning to upgrade the exhaust at some point anyway so I might as well pull the trigger on it now. I settled on the complete system from Delkevic for the GS750E for now. Fingers crossed!
