    Jet suggestions for pods, Kerker and Web cams #118

    I rebuilt a set of 82 GS1100 carbs and put them on my GS1000G.
    (dipped, cleaned per Basscliff tutorial, re-set float heights, new gaskets and o-rings, and stage 3 jet kit.)
    Kerker 4 ->1, Pods ( k+n copies) and Web cams #118

    And the bike runs like crap.

    Idle... sounds like it needs a tune-up, intermittent popping and sputtering.
    Mid throttle also feels weak.
    WOT, 6-8000 rpm... weak. more throttle makes more noise, not more power.

    Sooo.... could the Web cams make that much of a difference in required jetting, or should I go look for something I did wrong inside the carbs?

    I haven't had the time to look at the spark plugs yet.

    I know there are no shortcuts, and no way around the work I need to do, I'm just wondering if I'm waaay out of the ballpark before I start fiddling and fighting

      You are kind of starting from scratch as the jetting requirements of an 1100cc 16v motor may be allot different than a 1000cc 8v motor... stock cams or otherwise.

        The easiest solution is to borrow a wideband from someone and you'll save allot of headaches and time.

            I believe these came from a 82 1100GK, an 8 valve motor. ( unless I read the chart wrong. carb bodies # 49400 )

            cams degree'ed?

            um... I have changed the head since I bought the bike, so even if it was done when the cams went in, I guess the correct answer is "no".
            But I talked about it once. ;-)
            But on very rare occasions, the RS36 carbs had it running good enough to scare me ( I hit a lump at 80 and the front wheel started coming up ) so I assumed they were "close enough".
