So started cleaning the carbs today and took the bowl covers off. Looks like three are pretty good but the fourth looks pretty bad, any ideas why just the one is pretty gunked up?

That's the number 1 carb. My guess would be a leaking float valve and petcock while the bike was on the center stand for an extended period of time. Looks like there was also some water in the tank at the time.http://img633.imageshack.us/img633/811/douMvs.jpg

Get some Eagle One Mag Wheel cleaner and a tooth brush to remove all that scale. squirt on some wheel cleanr and wait about 5 minutes and thn scrub with thentooth brush. rinse and repeat a few times and the scale should be eaten away rather efficiently.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)
