Carb problems
Took the carbs of my 82 GS 650e was pretty impressed how clean they where but while I was disassembling the #1 carb I noticed the float post where the pin goes through was cracked clean at the top. It looked like the previous owner had some Jb weld on it as a quick fix. Any ideas how to fix this the right way? I really don't want to replace the whole carb, any possibility of maybe getting it tig welded or another way to fix it? Or am I just looking at breaking the bank and having to buy a set of carbs?Tags: None

Replace the carb body (if you can find one). There are various other mechanical fixes but they require skill to execute. I would not use any sort of bonding repair methodology if you value a lasting repair.Ed

2nd the picking up a replacement body. The float pivot point is critical and must remain stable.http://img633.imageshack.us/img633/811/douMvs.jpg

Darn, with so many daily riders it's hard to decide which one to jump on next.;)
