I just had a friend clean my carbs for me. I get them back on the bike, and it won't start. Admittedly throttle cable was set high at first. Carb bowls have gas, will briefly start with starter fluid. What else should I look at. Letting bike sit for the night will try again in morning . Bike is suzuki gs 750t 1982

Choke on? Did he bench sync the carbs when he reassembled them? Also check to see if the idle adjustment screw is opening the plates. A good starting point is two complete turns from when it first starts to move the throttle. Too much opening and it wont start just as too little an opening. Once it gets running let it warm up a little and adjust you idle to around 1,100 rpm.Originally posted by Kman123 View Post:cool:GSRick

Did he bench sync them?? How did he clean the carb bodies??? Full tear down and dipping of the bodies in carb dip?? Ultrasonically??? fill us in with as much detail as possible and that will help you get some better help. Heres some good reading to double check his work.

Another issue could be starting technique. Set the petcock to PRIme for about a minute to assure that the bowls have fuel in them, put the lever back to RUN. Set the "choke" lever to full ON. Turn the key ON. Pull the clutch lever, unless you have that "safety feature" bypassed. Push the starter button. Did you notice that NOWHERE did I mention "twist the throttle"? That's because you DON"T touch the throttle at all if you are using the "choke" to start the bike.
