    Curious behavior

My GS700ES came with cheap pods which I replaced with K&Ns. No jetting had been done and of course it wouldn't run over 5,000 rpm. After reading some pod threads I decided to go with the recommended DynoJet kit and it has run fine since--although it gets about 38mpg on average which is a bit less than my 1100s.

Last time out I noticed that when I was coming off the throttle (after harder acceleration) the engine did not immediately slow as expected. The cable and linkage are operating freely. Is there something with the mixture that could cause this?

Looks like this bike uses carb boot o-rings... have you replaced them?

Right you are. Good call. No I have not. But I will now. I forgot all about those. I'm gonna go check their condition right now and order some. Thx!

I suppose coming off the throttle, the increased vacuum could pull air around those o-rings and maybe cause the symptom--is that what you are thinking or is it just a commonly ignored maintenance item?

Well, no need to order o-rings after all. They are like new. (I've only had the bike for about four hundred miles). The shop I bought it from apparently got that right. Surprising since they didn't know it needed to be re-jetted.
