    Blocked orifice in bowls

    The Carburetor Rebuild Tutorial by Ed Ness is very clear and greatly appreciated.
    I have a set of carbs from a 1983 GS850G that I just cannot get clear.
    Page 51 of the Tutorial clearly advises that I should be able to spray into top of bowl and get liquid from the hole below.
    I have an Ultrasonic bath that may or my not be any good (Chinese like everything else these days)
    The bowls have had around 5 hours in that and only now is one starting to get some flow.
    Any advice on how to get this issue licked will be greatly appreciated.

    Guitar string, stiff wire, compressed air. It is just a passage and not a jet, so just use what is available to clear it. Try some lacquer thinner, canned carb or brake cleaner with the red straw and just keep at it until what goes in come out just as strong. Just wear eye protection, that back spray really stings the eyes.

      Fill up the cavity with carb spray and let it sit for a while. Ultrasonic doesn't get those passages as clean as carb dip does.

        heat it up to a couple hundred degres f
        it will speed any chemical reaction

          Heat gun and watch the crud start to soften and bubble up. At that point blow air through the holes while its hot. This will blow a good portion out and make a passage for the solvent to get in and eat the rest. I have done the carb spray like Ed said but it does evaporate quickly. You can use acetone which eats it quickly too.

            I dip and ultra sonic clean my carb sets and sometimes that passage still needs to get poked through. I have a wire brush that I clip a needle off and use that to poke through. Once it does it flows nicely with carb cleaner pushed through.

              Many thanks to JTGS850Gl, CHUCK HAHN, CIPHER,NESSISM GSRICK:
              I now have all 4 passages cleared. Once I got to appreciate just how fine the hole is and finished the job off with carb clean and a wire from my wire brush they are good to go.
