1982 GS450ga (suzukimatic) carburetor hose question.

    Hey everyone,

Just rebuilt the carbs on my 1982 gs450 and I want to make sure the hoses are hooked back up properly -- there are two brass nipples on the RH carb, one on the cylinder side facing straight up, and the other pointing backward (from sitting on the bike) off the middle of the carb body. Are these both vent hoses, or is one a vacuum hose that should run to the airbox?

    thanks!

one on the cylinder side facing straight up,
likely goes to a Vacuum-type fuel petcock. Your carbs on the Automatic 450GA are different than the plain-jane 450 or my gs(x)400 so I'm not sure what the other does from the description... try getting a clear picture or a "screen grab" from an exploded view....unlikely it goes to airbox I think.

The nipple on the engine side of the carb that is pointing up is the vacuum port for the petcock, the other one is the vent line. Its hose should be draped over the airbox, ending in relatively still air.

Thanks for the responses! That makes a lot of sense
