1150 carb#3 leaking fuel into airbox...

I rebuilt these carbs six months ago, but was unable to get the bike to run. I knew the valves were the problem and I had surgery in May, finally able to use my left arm again. I adjusted the valves, and for the first time since i had the bike, it is running great.

Problem is the #3 carb is leaking gas into the airbox.

I pulled the carbs and it seems the float is right. I wasnt able to get the float off so i could pull the needle and see if it had some kind of obstruction...

Any ideas how i could get this thing fixed? How do yall punch out the float pins?

I suggest you use the rebuild tutorial in my signature and go through the carbs fully. When done, use the wet fuel (clear tube) test to verify fuel level. You will need to make some adapters but that's not overly difficult.

Take short cuts and you will likely be back inside the carbs again in short order.

Oh, and you may want to check your fuel tank for debris and take action as necessary.

#3 carb ?

Had an issue like that before on a GS1000G - bad petcock leaked gas through the vacuum hose into the #3 carb, and into the airbox.

That would only be possible if you are counting the cylinders incorrectly.

#1 cylinder (and carb) is on the LEFT, under your clutch hand. #4 is on the RIGHT, under your throttle hand.

On 4-cylinder GSes with VM carbs, the vacuum fitting is on carb #3.

On 4-cylinder GSes with BS carbs (CV-type), the vacuum fitting is on carb #2.

my memory must be on the way out, it was a #3 carb, could be it was a GS850 with VM carbs ...
