    No dynojet kit available for 77-79 GS750

    Hey there guys,

    so like the thread title says; I've been unable to find a dynojet kit for my 78 gs750e. I've done the research on the forum about jetting and tuning etc.. Looks like I'll just have to buy the individual jets separately. Is this true?

    in addition, I haven't found a replacement part for the jet needle. I've read that the taper could be more aggressive from stock mikuni vm26 part. I will be jetting for pods and 4 to 1 delkevic exhaust system.

    use the DJ kit for the 78 GS1000, same carbs, works fine on a 750. you may just have to buy some smaller main jets but the needles do the job in the 750
    1978 GS1085.

    Just remember, an opinion without 3.14 is just an onion!

      Great idea. I wonder if I could buy just the dynojet jet needles and purchase the mains and pilot jets separately

        So I just heard back from dynojet. They don't sell the needles separately as they are "the heart" of the kit. But they sell the other components separate.
        ha. Thanks

        anyway, are there any other aftermarket brands manufacturing more aggressive jet needles?

        or can I stick with stock and just move a notch

          Depending on what set up your bike came with as standard (the 750s had some slight differences depending on engine number) you'll need to move the clip on the needle down one or two positions and up the main jet to somewhere around 115 / 120. You should be ok with the standard pilot jets but may need to go up one size. The original needles tune in easily so no need to replace them - it just takes a bit of time.

            Hi Andrew. I'm curious about where you ended up. I'm about to start down this same path myself (78 GS750E with a Delkevic 4-1 and pods). What mains did you end up with? Did you have to go up on the pilot jet at all. If I could use your final specs as a starting point, I'm sure it would really speed things up for me. It may actually end up being spot on for my bike (if I'm lucky).

              On my 78 750E I'm at 27.5 mains, with stock pilots and needles up one notch. Fuel screw set at 1.5 turns. Was at 1.25 turns which ran well, but resulted in carb popping upon slow speed deceleration. The additional quarter turn eliminated the carb "coughing". I set air screws to stock setting and tried various 1/8 in and out turns until seat of the pants ride was best (never good at adjusting by ear for highest rpm).

              Bike has K&N's with old school high flow Yoshimura exhaust. Pipe has original optional racing baffle installed.

              Happy with the way the bike runs. Instant cold startup, no hiccups at any throttle opening. Pulls from low rpm and flies past redline.

              I searched under and read every possible related thread I could think of on this site to reach settings that worked for me. Many thanks to current and past GS'ers for their constructive comments.
