    Oxidation in Carb

I tore down the carbs on my GS450L last weekend and soaked them, but there's a lot of oxidation inside - lots of damage to the float pin arms in one of them, it's barely able to hold the pin up. I'm a newb, just wondering if these are salvageable or should I just go ahead and get some units in better condition. I've been scraping and scrubbing all weekend but these things aren't looking much better than before I dipped them.

Get some Eagle One Mag Wheel cleaner from Orielleys. Look at the label and be sure it says "etching" on it. Spray it in and wait like 4 or 5 minutes and then scrub with an old toothbrush. Rinse in water and spot treat as needed. If all is good dry with the compressor air nozzle.

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

Thanks for the advice guys, since I only paid $50 for this bike I went ahead and found a decent looking (from the pics) set of carbs on ebay from an 81 GS450. I'll let yall know what happens.
